God Relents from Judgment
God observes the genuine repentance and changed behavior of the Ninevites, and in response, He relents from the disaster He had threatened to bring upon them, choosing not to execute the judgment.
Nineveh Repents
The people of Nineveh believe God's warning, proclaim a fast, and put on sackcloth. The king, upon hearing, also repents and issues a decree for universal fasting and repentance for all people and animals, hoping God will relent.
Jonah Preaches in Nineveh
Jonah obeys God's command, travels to Nineveh, and begins to preach throughout the city, declaring that Nineveh will be overthrown in forty days.
Jonah's Second Commission
